The establishment of the statutory National Council for Teachers Education in 1995 has been a historic event. This has helped achieve co-ordination and maintenance of standard in Teacher Education in the country. A new vision and direction leading to realistic polices and programmes and empowerment of teacher education is on the anvil. This combined with the phenomenal developments in media and technology and massive expansion of open-distance learning have harmonized professional development needs of in service trained teachers as also other untrained teachers. The availability of audio, Radio, video and television, interactive multimedia and web-based learning has introduced a paradigm shift. As a university, being conscious of these changes is not enough. We need to carry forward the benefits of IGNOU, DEC, NCTE, ISRO by learning and imbibing, the changes introduced at the national/Regional level and helping spread the benefits to society. This compelling thought helped the Board of Management to introduce a small group of Five courses. The  B.Ed (DE). programme of  IGNOU is workshop-based, school based and work place based activities and highly appreciated and adapted. We plan to utilize it while gradually evolving our own. It is our earnest hope that the consciousness based education provided by the university combined with the benefits of excellence in distance education we hope to imbibe, will in the not too distant future, bring about the realization that “The destiny of India is now being shaped in the MMYVV class rooms and study centers” The teachers educated in this university will be able to function in peaceful harmonious and consciousness based education system, as propounded by  Pujya Maharishiji.

Objectives

The B.Ed Distance Education Programme aims to provide consciousness-based knowledge, under standing and skill so as to play the role of an effective and efficient teacher and become an instrument of change. The basic objective is to provide a channel for up gradation of in service untrained teacher especially in MVM and generally for other applicants across the state of M.P.

The programme aims to achieve the following specific objectives:-

  • To develop and strengthen the professional competency of the in-service teachers
  • To impart knowledge and understanding of various methods and practice needed for organizing    learning experiences to in-service teachers.
  • To develop skills involved in selecting, developing and organizing instructional and evaluation techniques.
  • To provide knowledge and understanding about school management
  • To develop competencies for organizing various co-curricular and other supports active needed in educational institutions.

To develop the role perception of a teacher in the emerging socio-cultural, political environmental context in general and the educational system in particular thereby, inculcating personality traits, appreciation and understanding among the trainees as an agent of change.
