The Maharishi Mahesh Yogi Vedic Vishwavidyalaya (MMYVV) was established by the Act No. 37 of 1995 of Madhya Pradesh Government vide gazette notification no 573 dated 29 Nov 1995. The University Grants Commission [UGC] has recognized MMYVV under section 2f. It is a member of Association of Indian Universites. [AIU] The University head office is at Village Karondi, Tehsil Sihora, District Katni, Madhya Pradesh. Directorate of Distance Education of the University is situated at Lamti, Vijay Nagar, Jabalpur. Pin 482002. Distance Education Council vide their letter No. DEC/recog/MMYogi/2006/844 dated 15-11-2006 has issued NOC to conduct under mentioned courses.The Maharishi Mahesh Yogi Vedic Vishwavidyalaya (MMYVV) has recently established a Directorate of Distance Education (DDE) at its new campus in Vijayanagar, Jabalpur. this is in keeping with the MMYVV objective to 'reach me un reached' and provide benefit of higher education to those employed in small towns or living in the rural belt of M.P.
Students from all over MP can enroll for the courses offered. Excellent statewide network of student support exists. Students can choose their own pace and place of learning. Besides providing self instructional Material (SIM) for study, benefit of Library, viewing of Video Cassettes and interaction with counselor and other students at study centers will be arranged every Semester. While MMYVV has started preparing its own study material it has obtained sanction of Distance Education Council of utilize IGNOU study material during the interim period. Minimum pass percentage of marks qualifies for admission to any of the Distance Educations courses offered without need to sit for entrance examination. Those who have discontinued studies to take up jobs/marriage etc. can also apply. The MMYVV, being a recognized university, will conduct its own examinations and award degrees approved and recognized by the University Grants Commission.
