Q1: When and where Maharishi Mahesh Yogi Vedic Vishwavidyalaya (MMYVV) was established?

Ans. 1: The MMYVV was established by the Act No. 37 of 1995 of Madhya  Pradesh Government vide gazette notification no 573 dated 29 Nov 1995. The University head office is at Village Karondi, Tehsil Sihora, District Katni, Madhya Pradesh. Distance Education office of the University is situated at 50 Narmada Road, Jabalpur, Madhya Pradesh.

Q2: Is it a Government University or a private University?

Ans. 2: MMYVV has been established as a statutory University like any other UGC recognised University. This University is not established as private University under the provisions of private University act.

Q3: What are the objectives of the MMYVV?

Ans. 3: The MMYVV has been established to disseminate quality education by using innovative methodology based on subject knowledge of Maharishi Vedic Science, Transcendental Meditation (TM) and TM Sidhi programme in the field of the most ancient Indian knowledge of Ved and Vedic Literature. The MMYVV also offers other vocational programmes through distance mode. It has recently started regular B Ed courses approved by National Council of Teachers Education. [NCTE].The programmes offered by MMYVV are not only life oriented and life supporting but also job oriented. MMYVV operates through its main campus at Karondi and study Centers across MP as also MIVMS established under agreement signed with Maharishi Shiksha Sansthan. 

Q4: What are means of transportation to University Campus?

Ans. 4: The MMYVV Campus at Karondi can be reached both from Jabalpur & Katni by road [NH7] and rail. The campus is located approx 80 Km from Jabalpur and 35Km from Katni. Both Jabalpur & Katni are connected by train of West Central Railway. Students traveling by local train from Jabalpur to Katni should entrain/detrain at Dundi. This is approx 5 Km. from the Campus.

Q5: Is the University a affiliating University?

Ans. 5: Yes it is affiliating University?

Q6: Who is the Chancellor of the University?

Ans. 6: Hon’ble Maharishi Mahesh Yogi Ji is the first Chancellor of the University.

Q7: How is the University administered?

Ans. 7: The University is administered by Vice Chancellor through a Board of Management  and its various councils e.g. Academic Council, Finance, etc.

Q9. Is MMYVV recognized by UGC/ AIU?

Ans. 9: Yes MMYVV has been registered in list of UGC under section 2F. It is also a member of Association of Indian Universities.

Q10. What are the Programmes offered by the University?

Ans. 10: The University offers Post Graduate (Acharya), Graduate (Shastri) and Diploma (Praman Patra) Programmes in Maharishi Ved Vigyan, Jyotish, Yog, Sthapatya Ved-Vastu Vidya and Vedic Swasthya Vidhan. Other than these programmes, one-year diploma in Modern Office Management and Dress Designing and Manufacturing are also available. BBA and BCA programmes approved by Directorate of Technical Education & B.Ed approved by NCTE are available at Jabalpur campus. D.Ed and B.P.Ed courses, are awaiting sanction of NCTE and will be on offer w.e.f. academic year 2006. Admission is open for the semester starting in July 2006. Q12: Is there an entrance test for admission to the various Programmes?

Ans. 12: There is no entrance test for distance education programmes. Any one can take admission in any of the programmes subject to his/her being eligible for admission as per the eligibility conditions. Admission to B Ed and other educational programmes is as laid down by State Government-MP.

Q13. When does the admission open for University programmes?

Ans. 13: The University admits student twice a year; January and July for all Vedic and Vocational Courses. For B.Ed, D.Ed, B.P.Ed, BBA and BCA admissions take place only once a year in June/July.

Q14: When is the advertisement published for  admissions to MMYVV?

Ans. 14: The advertisement for admission is published in November-December and   May-June every year, in all major English/Hindi news papers published within MP.

Q15: What is the admission fee?

Ans. 15: Rs.100 is charged as enrolment fee at the time of admission through a separate Demand Draft in favour of MMYVV payable at  Bank of India, Jabalpur.

Q16. What is the Cost of the Nidarshika (Prospectus & Admission Form)?

Ans. 16: Cost of Nidarshika is Rs. 100/- or Rs.125/- when requested by post /courier on sending a Demand Draft in favour of MMYVV payable at Bank of India, Jabalpur. Those downloading through website may send cost of Nidarshika i.e. Rs. 100/- along with the admission fee.

Q17. What are the modes of teaching?

Ans. 17: Regular contact programmes are to be conducted at the University campus and study centres. For those undertaking Distance Learning programmes timely contact periods will be arranged at closest study centres. Similar arrangement exists for courses arranged through MIVMS. As regards other courses norms laid down by respective Councils will be adopted. Eg B Ed will be conducted as per NCTE norms.

Q18. What is the mode of payment of course fee?

Ans. 18: The course fee is to be paid only through crossed demand draft payable to MMYVV at Bank of India, Jabalpur.

Q19. How are the programmes of MMYVV different from other Universities?

Ans. 19: Besides benefits which the students gain in the normal educational
system, exposure to time tested, scientifically validated, Maharishi's
Consciousness Based Education System will help students reach full potential as human beings. Other additional benefits include: -

(a) The practice of Maharishi's Transcendental Meditation (TM) Programme is the practical aspect of Maharishi's Vedic Science and Technology, which imbibes the basic principles underlying and supporting the development of higher states of consciousness, thus laying the foundation for increased intelligence in the minds of the students and support of laws of nature. This deep connection between the students' own growth of individual consciousness and cosmic consciousness around them is an integral part of curricula at MMYVV.

(b) Maharishi Transcendental Meditation[TM] technique which is taught to every student is a simple, natural and effortless technique which is easily and systematically learned by anyone irrespective of age, education, religion, or background. The twice daily group practice of TM instills in students a natural orderliness and coherence making them more receptive to knowledge. They exhibit greater alertness and radiate bliss and friendliness to their classmates and their teachers.

(c) MMYVV has life oriented, life supporting Vedic courses which hone the overall personality and outlook of students leading to a better quality of life. Ambitious students also combine Graduates programmes with Jyotish, Vastu or Health courses to develop these
as a hobby or qualify to dual profession utilizing this knowledge as consultants.

Q20. What pattern of education is followed?

Ans. 20: All programmes are on semester basis.

Q21. Is there any concession in course fee for the employees of MMYVV staff?

Ans. 21: Staff of the MMYVV including dependents are eligible for concession of up to 20% on gross fee.

Q22. Is the fee payable in lump sum?

Ans. 22: Yes. It is desirable that fee is paid in single installment. Those unable to do so will be required  to pay required installment prior to commencement of each semester.  

Q23: Is the fee refundable if a student discontinues the programme?

Ans. 23: Fee of all ineligible candidates is refunded after a deduction of Rs.100/- as  processing charges. In other cases fee is not refundable.

Q24. Is change of course/programme permissible?

Ans. 24: Yes, Written request to the Vice Chancellor, MMYVV can be made for change. The student  will, on obtaining  sanction, deposit Rs. 300/- toward administrative costs.

Q25. Is change of study centre permitted?

Ans. 25: Yes, subject to availability of seat at the new centre asked for.

Q26. Can a student pursue two programmes simultaneously?

Ans. 26: Yes, a student can pursue one Jyotish,/ Vastu / Health diploma and one degree course simultaneously.

Q27. Is change of Examination Centre permissible?

Ans. 27: Yes, subject to the convenience of the University.

Q28. What is the examination fee?

Ans. 28: For Vedic Courses Rs. 50/- per paper has been fixed. For all other examinations a fee of Rs. 100/- per paper will be charged.

Q29. When is the examination fee to be paid.

Ans. 29: At the time of submission of examination form i.e. 2 months before the Examination.

Q30. Is there any provision for late submission of examination form?

Ans. 30: Yes, with late fee as prescribed by the University.

Q31. What fee is payable for issuing a duplicate Identity card?

Ans. 31: Rs. 50/- will be charged subject to the copy of FIR being produced by the students. 

Q32. What is the fee payable for a duplicate admit card?

Ans. 32: No fee is charged for issuing a duplicate admit card/roll no.

Q33. What is the fee payable for a duplicate mark sheet?

Ans. 33: Rs.250/- only.

Q34. What fee is payable for a provisional certificate?

Ans. 34: Rs. 100/- only.

Q35. If a student is not able to clear all the papers of a semester, will he be declared fail?

Ans. 35: No. He can reappear in those papers along with the examination of the next semester. In case he fails in four consecutive attempts, his request for reappearing in those papers will not be considered. For further appearance the decision of the Academic Council would be final and binding.

Q36. In which state or city study centers exist?

Ans. 36: Study centres of the University have been established within jurisdiction of the University i.e. within M.P. Details may be seen under Study Center. (TOP)

Q37. What is MIVMS and which organization is establishing it?

Ans. 37: MIVMS stands for Maharishi Institute of Vedic and Management Sciences. MIVMS has being conceived by Maharishi Shiksha Sansthan (MSS). The MSS runs a chain of 150 Maharishi Vidya Mandir (MVM) schools within the country of which 40 are located in MP. The building  and infrastructure of these MVMs is being utilised to provide benefits of MMYVV Courses of Higher Education
to the local population, specially in rural areas.

Q38. How many MIVMS centers will be opened in M.P.?

Ans. 38: The MSS has planned to open large number of MIVMS progressively. The number of MIVMS presently functioning can be seen under  MIVMS. (TOP)

Q39. What infrastructure  and facilities will these study center have?

Ans. 39: The MIVMS study center will have infrastructure and facilities as laid down by Distance Education Council (DEC). The building, computer, communication and student support arrangement will be at par with the best in the country.

Q40. Who will administer these study centers?

Ans. 40: The MSS will appoint independent  & qualified administrative officers to run the study centers. They will also receive support & cooperation of the local MVM.

Q41. What courses are on offer through MIVMS?

Ans. 41: At present the MIVMS, will offer under mentioned courses within  MP. Certificate/ Shastri/Acharya courses in Jyotish, Gandharvaved, Sthapatyaved, Yoga along with other MMYVV courses approved by the Board of Management. MSS will progressively introduce  additional courses available  with other universities as also other courses approved by the governing body of MSS and MMYVV.

Q42. How will study material  & assignments be delivered ?

Ans. 42: Study materials and assignment will be provided to student on completion of all admission formalities. Material will be forwarded through approved courier.

Q43. Will there be any contact programme for student undertaking MIVMS courses.?

Ans. 43: Yes. Study centers will arrange contact programme issued by MMYVV. Study centers closest to the student permanent address will provide necessary student support

Q44. Where will examination be conducted?

Ans. 44: Study centers where students is enrolled for contact programme will be  earmarked as examination center also. Incase the strength is below the minimum laid down  a near-by center will be earmarked as examination center.

Q45. By when is semester fee  required  to be paid?

Ans. 45: All fees & dues are to be paid at the commencement of the semester. Incase dues are not paid students will not be permitted to take the
examination.

Q46. Is there any provision for lateral entry into MIVMS courses?

Ans. 46: Rules for lateral entry will be as laid down by MMYVV. Specific queries may be raised via e-mail.

Q47. Who will be the examining body for MIVMS courses?

Ans. 47: At present MMYVV will be examining body for MIVMS courses.

Q48. Are any scholarship available?

Ans. 48: As of now there are none. Efforts to institute a few scholarship for all courses is under consideration of the Board of Management. concession of 10% is available to all Ex-students of MVMs and all the employees of Maharishi Organisation.

Q49. What documents should be submitted along with application?

Ans. 49: Documents required to be attached along with the application form include  photocopy of mark sheet of 10th, 12th, graduation as applicable. In addition document  specified in the admission form should be enclosed

Q50. What is the minimum marks/ grade I should have  at  class 10,12, bachelor level  to apply for admission?

Ans. 50: There is no minimum, However selected candidate are likely to have had a consistently good academic record.

Q51. Is there any reservation  for NRI/Foreign Students?

Ans. 51: No. However the MMYVV is actively seeking international mix of participants, specially for our Vedic Courses.

Q52. How many seats are available for courses conducted by MMYVV?

Ans. 52: As a general rule all courses conducted at our study centers including MIVMS will have a minimum of 30 Seats. Courses conducted at the University Campus will have 60 Seats.

Q53. Will Placement Services be available?

Ans. 53: Yes. B.Ed. student scoring 75% and above can be inducted into MVM through MSS. Similarly other student will be provided assistance for placements within sister organization like Maharishi Shiksha Sansthan. Efforts are also being made with Global Country of World Peace for job opportunities in 3000 Peace Palaces being developed by Maharishi Vedic Vishwa Prashasan across the globe.

Q54. What is the schedule of Admission process for the programme starting in the month of January and July?

Ans. 54: (A) The application form will be available Online (www.mmyvv.com) throughout the year. This can also be collected from our campuses at Karondi and Distance Education Department at 50, Narmada Road, Jabalpur.

(B) Last date for receipt of filled in application form is Third Thursday of January and Third Thursday of July of every Year.

(C) For B.Ed. Courses dates will be intimated on website as they are regulated by Higher Education Department and NCTE.

Q55. Are Hostel facilites available?

Ans. 55: At present Hostel facilites are available at Karondi. Arrangement for Hostel accommodation can however be made at Jabalpur on request.

(C) What about bank loan to finance the programme?

Ans. 56: (A) Fee per progremme/course may be seen under COURSES- MMYVV. (TOP)
(B) All fees are required to be paid in the name of MMYVV, Bank of India, Jabalpur by crossed demand draft

(C) Bank of India Extension Counter, Jabalpur and State Bank of India,  Pan Umariya will facilitate loans required by the students
